Those of you who like to keep their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on the latest firmware would be happy to know that Apple is planning to release iOS 7.1 “any day now”. A new report from John Gruber mentions that Apple is going to release iOS 7.1 before the iTunes Festival at SXSW in Austin. Check out the details regarding iOS 7.1 release date below.

iOS 7.1 Release

iOS 7.1 has been in the beta stage for quite sometime, and many reports had pitched the release date to be somewhere in March. Well, today the report from Daring Fireball puts the date as “any day now”.
John Gruber has a very credible history when it comes to reporting on Apple-related stuff. So when he says that iOS 7.1 will be released any day now, so you can expect it to be out within this week.
From Daring Fireball:

Apple’s first iTunes Festival in the U.S. starts a week from today at SXSW in Austin. Apple is going to stream the performances to iOS devices using an app, but I’ve heard from a little birdie that the app requires iOS 7.1 (which explains why the app isn’t out yet). That means iOS 7.1 should ship any day now.

Those of you who have used iOS 7.1 beta on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch would know that this new firmware is really fast, when I say really fast I literally mean it. The biggest and most important features of iOS 7.1 are the speed and some aesthetic changes.
Those of you who are planning to upgrade to iOS 7.1 should know that Evasi0n jailbreak has been fixed in this firmware. So if you want to keep your jailbreak, stay away from it.

Well are you going to upgrade to iOS 7.1 once it is released?

iPhone is considered to be one of the world’s most secure smartphones, after all it is being used by many top businessmen and political leaders. Well, it seems the iPhone is not secure enough according to the White House. President Obama, who wanted to use an iPhone was told by his staff that he could not use it due to security reasons and it being susceptible to hackers.

In an event on Tuesday, Obama told a group of young people that he was not allowed to use iPhone due to security reasons. Instead he uses a Blackberry, the same smartphone that has lost a huge chunk of smartphone market share to iPhone and was recently up for sale.
So why is President Obama, the world’s most powerful person not allowed to use an iPhone? Well, according to the White House officials, this is due to the encryption on the iPhone – although quite strong, but it seems not strong enough.

On the other hand, Obama uses a Blackberry smartphone which is world-renowned for its strong security encryption. Even the Blackberry that President Barack Obama is seen to be using is a specially modified Blackberry, that has had some extra security layer on it.
Although Barack Obama is not allowed to use an iPhone, but his daughters, Sasha and Malia do use one.
The White House officials want to give Obama the complete privacy any person can dream of – oh well, the irony!

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to many of us – Apple’s iPhone 5c did not sell well. To be honest, it did not have any impact in the tech world, unlike Apple’s almost every iPhone. And, it seems Apple is acknowledge this fact. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has admitted that iPhone 5c has not been popular as they expected.

Tim Cook yesterday told Wall Street investors during Apple’s earning call that iPhone 5c has not been as popular as Apple originally expected. Apple wanted the iPhone 5c to be the stepping stone when it comes to entering the Apple world.
A $100 price reduction was not enough to lure many people in to the Apple-sphere, as we are now finding out.

According to a previous report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple is going to scrap the plan for a next version of the iPhone 5c. Apple will not introduce a plastic iPhone this year.
I for one, will be very happy if Apple stops producing the iPhone 5c. It wasn’t going to take off as we thought and now we have the confirmation from Apple itself.

Apple is going to introduce two new iPhones this year, and both of them are going to be large.
According to many reports Apple will most likely launch the iPhone 6 with a large 4.8 inch display. Some are even going as far as mentioning that Apple will bring an “iPhablet” in the market – a large 5″+ iPhone.
Well let’s see what Apple has in store for us this year.

iPhone 5S and iPhone 5c are Apple’s latest devices, offering people a different experience; a gateway to Apple’s world. Many people want to own Apple devices but can’t due to the very high price. Well due to the high competition, some retailers are dropping the price on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5c: Wal-Mart is one of them.

Wal-Mart today announced that they are going to drop the price of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5c. This is due to the competition from BestBuy, who also announced price cuts on major smartphones.
If you want to get an iPhone, and do not want to wait too long, then this is probably the best time to get yourself an iPhone.
Now dropping the price of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5c does not mean that Apple is going to launch a new iPhone soon, retailers set their own price and has nothing to do with Apple.

The price of the iPhone is now as follow:

• iPhone 5S 16 GB ($119: Wal-Mart).

• iPhone 5c 16 GB ($29: Wal-Mart).

• iPhone 5S 16 GB ($150: BestBuy).

• iPhone 5c 16 GB ($50: BestBuy).

Well if you are going to get an iPhone then get it from either Wal-Mart or BestBuy. But do note that these prices are for two-year contract iPhones; not the factory unlocked ones.

2014 is here and the rumors regarding iPhone 6 are slowly going to pour in. So keeping with the rumors we have a new one and this time it is regarding a solar-powered iPhone 6. Yup folks, you read that right. An iPhone 6 having the ability to charge itself when out in the Sun! Check out the details regarding the solar-powered iPhone 6.

Apple has a deal with GT Advanced Technologies worth $578 million, in which the company is going to supply Apple with Sapphire glass for an up-coming product. This deal is by far one of the largest deals Apple has done related to Sapphire Glass.
Although Apple has not officially said it, but almost everyone knows why Apple wants the Sapphire Glass – this time it is not just for the camera lens but for the entire screen – the entire iPhone 6 screen!

Apple is expected to include Sapphire glass for the iPhone 6 and according to one analyst this Sapphire glass is going to include solar cells! These solar cells are going to charge your iPhone when placed in the sunshine, which to be honest would solve some major battery problems the iPhone currently has.
Apple has already filed lots of patents regarding solar-charging, so this might actually make sense.

But like with most analyst predictions and rumors you should take this with a pinch of salt. In fact it would be very unlikely that Apple would include solar cells in the sapphire crystal for the iPhone 6.
So we might just have to completely ignore this one.
Thoughts?

This is something you might have never thought of, even if you did, you would have dismissed it as “impossible”. But it finally has been said and that too by Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak. He mentions that Apple should make an Android phone; you might have to read that twice.

iAndroid

Steve Wozniak has no hesitation when it comes to commenting on Apple or any other technology company or a product. He has been in the news for various things, sometimes good sometimes bad. But the thing he mentioned recently has puzzled many people.
Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, wants Apple to make an iPhone that runs on Android. Yup folks, you have finally heard it – iAndroid?

In an interview to Wired magazine, he mentioned that Apple should make an iPhone that runs on Android. This iPhone (iAndroid?) will be a direct competitor in the Android market. This might in fact help Apple gain smartphone market share which it has been losing for quite sometime now.
You might think Wozniak has gone pro-Android, but he also mentions that Apple is a great company and that adding features to a phone doesn’t make it great – bringing new innovation does. He criticized Samsung for just adding new features and not bringing true innovation.

Those of you who know about Apple as a company would know that, this tech giant would never release an iPhone that has Android running on it. In fact, before Steve Jobs death, he mentioned that he wanted to destroy Android. So there is almost no chance of an iPhone with Android being released in the market.
Well what are your thoughts on this? Would you want an iPhone running Android on it? Drop a comment below.

If you want to know what loyalty means, go and talk to an Apple fan; or simply put, an iPhone user. We all know iPhone owners are pretty loyal to Apple, some admit it while others do not. Well today we have a somewhat confirmation on the loyalty of an iPhone owner. iPhone owners have blind loyalty to Apple!

According to a recent survey conducted on 2000 iPhone owners, more than 1200 iPhone owners admitted to have “blind loyalty” to Apple. That is an astonishing figure considering no other smartphone manufacture has the same numbers or is even close to those numbers.
One of the questions in the survey was why they would not choose another smartphone; 78 percent mentioned they “couldn’t imagine having a different type of phone now”. And, 52 percent mentioned that they were really impressed with Apple’s iPhone.

The other interesting information from the survey showed that Blackberry owners were the number one people who switched sides. Here is the complete break:

• Blackberry to iPhone: 17 percent.

• Nokia to iPhone: 14 percent.

• Samsung to iPhone: nine percent.

• HTC to iPhone: four percent.

• Sony Ericsson to iPhone: two percent.

iPhone 5 is the number one handset which is owned by iPhone users, followed by iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, and one in ten people now own the flagship models iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5c.
The survey just confirms one thing that we had already known; iPhone users indeed have blind loyalty to Apple. They would not care what kind of product Apple will launch; whether good or bad; they will simply buy it because it is Apple!
Well what are your thoughts on this? Drop a comment below.
